MODEL ARRESTED FOR ASSULT

Now, if you were to see this innocent looking girl on the street would you be scared? Probably not! Well maybe you should be as one woman unfortunately found out the hard way.

An NYPD officer confirms to PEOPLE that super model Jessica White, who has appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit  Edition, was arrested early Saturday morning outside Avenue Lounge in  New York. She was charged with misdemeanor assault and later released. According to a witness, White walked to 10th Avenue at about 4:50 a.m. to hail a taxi after  leaving a Chelsea club. But while standing on the corner of West 17th  Street, she got into a dispute with “a 28-year-old woman.”

In the court complaint it says that 26-year-old White “pulled the victim’s hair and struck [the victim]  numerous times in the face with her hand, causing abrasions, swelling  and substantial pain.”

Jessica has modeled for Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated’s  swimsuit issue and is the on-again, off-again girlfriend of actor Sean  Penn.

CANT ESCAPE THE BIEBER FEVER
inger nail polish seems to be something small even innocent, many women of all ages have enjoyed using this accessory to spice up their style or just to "pamper" themselves at eh salon. However nail poish does seem to be bringing a lot of controversy to the platform. First there was the whole Jizz thing, and then Rodarte’s MAC snafu. Lindsay Lohan even used her nails to send out a subtle “Fuck U” message. Well guess who is now in the polish business? That's right its Justin Bieber! This kid is EVERYWHERE!

The “One Less Lonely Girl” collection is the product of a collaboration between Bieber and Nicole (OPI’s cheesy younger sister). The first six shades will be sold exclusively at Walmart during the holidays, while eight more will be rolled out in January. Don’t live near a Walmart (although we’re pretty sure that’s impossible)? Have no fear! The polish will be sold at Target, Sears and Ulta come February.

On the whole, the line is bit glittery for our taste, but we imagine that screaming teenyboppers will feel differently. Hate him or love him the kid is selling himself, taking advantage of his following, and bringing in the cash!.He knows who his target market is and it hitting the bulls-eye! Can't knock his hustle.

THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS
 C.R. Wade

Prior to the 1920’s the color black was reserved for a funeral or a time of mourning. Not to be put in a box world renowned designer CoCo Chanel introduced us to “the little black dress” in 1926. This is when she stitched her name in fashion history becoming a pioneer for the fashion industry. Chanel’s designs were considered to be the epitome of the 20’s because they were e always fresh, modern and up-to-date. Looking at the style one would envision a flapper. Chanel was known to work with neutral colors and easy-to wear fabrics and use simple shapes for her designs. Until then, much of women’s clothing was uncomfortable. However, Chanel proved again why she was one of the best and was able to combine sophistication with comfort.
Chanel’s little black dress was simple, classic, sexy, and sophisticated; sleeveless and cut just above the knee. I bet she never imagined the immediate love that women would have for her simple chic black dress; not its longevity. Chanel was quoted: “Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it’s not luxury.” Every woman has one and its all her own. The little black dress can cost $50- $500 but no matter the price each is worn with the same intent; to be sexy, chic, and sophisticated effortlessly. While most women cannot afford to buy one of CoCo Chanel’s masterpieces, each can wear it with the modern, sophisticated attitude that she possessed.

BE A MATERIAL GIRL
 C.R. Wade

Madonna has been in the industry for decades and she keeps coming back, giving us more. Now as they sing to the oldies, young girls can also be material girls like the famous singer. Madonna has paired up with her daughter Lourdes (13) to make a new clothing line for juniors called Material Girl.

This collects again proves that old fashions can be made new and never truly go out of style. The collection takes us back to the styles of the 80’s and 90’s and gives us the true Madonna style. We see denim, bright colors, prints, and big bows. As we get a blast from the past we also get the new funky and fresh combinations of today’s younger generation, assumed to be inspired by Lourdes.

The new line is just in time for back to school shopping and the young ladies can show their own style and feel like a star all while being light on mom’s pockets. The Material Girl line made its debut in Macy’s stores earlier this month. The line offers apparel, footwear, and accessories all designed for “affordability and replenishment.” The pieces will sell for $12.00 to $40.00.

“You know that we are living in a material world
and I am a material girl…
” Now you too can be a Material Girl.

TRENDS: NAIL COLOR
 C.R. Wade

Although Kelis and Cassie’s  style is not MOD these ladies  sure do possess the attitude of “anything goes” and “takes not prisoners” when it comes to her sense of fashion and style; while actress Halle Barry takes a classic approach to beauty.
Trends for nail polish colors are a tricky thing because what you wear ultimately depends on your style and mood. Spring nail polish trends this year spanned the rainbow from beigey apricots, browns and toupees to lollipop-inspired shades to pastels…as you can see - the palettes were very diverse.
If your mood says “wild-child’ like Kelis’s display of a multi-colored french manicure, then one nail color just won’t do. Get Kelis’s look by opting for three or four very pretty, yet fanciful shades from Perfect Formula’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection ($15, perfectformulas.com)  and create your own customized french manicure.
Maybe you’re a more subdued “wild-child” and you like to wear one hot pink nail shade at a time like Cassie did with a color close to POP Beauty’s Nail Glam ($10, cvs.com). This color intense nail polish is just what the doctor ordered to give that pop of color your outfit needs.
Halle struck the perfect fashion chord by sporting one of Fall 2010’s nail color trends - grey. You can get this look by using Butter London Nail Lacquer ($14, beauty.com) which is a grey with a touch of metallic finish that comes across as soft and elegant. This is the perfect shade for someone who wants to be edgy, but works in a conservative corporate environment. Other nail shades that can be seen this fall are rich opaque’s like purples, oranges and blues.
Just remember that changing your nail color is one of the cheapest ways to update your look while accommodating your ever-changing moods.

APPLES DON'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE
 C.R. Wade
Within the next few months fall will be here! The leaves will turn the pumpkins will be out and the beautiful fall colors will be blowing through the wind. Come in from the chilly weather to the smell of warm apple pie or even apple cider. While you sit and enjoy your pie or head out look good in Apple Bottoms. Nelly is bringing us more of his line for the fall and winter seasons and here is a sneak peak.
Although the line does not give us the bright fall colors it does give us the dark colors as the summer ends. You will see the dark denim, grays and charcoal, as well as purple. While the collection contains the Apple Bottoms front-liners: apparel, footwear, swimwear, jewelry, sunglasses & eyewear, fragrance and home goods, the label still has something for us to look out for the next season. Apple Bottoms is planning to release their own cosmetics collection in spring 2011.
These exclusive pictures are hot just like its founder proving that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

WECOME TO...THE HOUSE OF DEREON
C.R.Wade

Yesterday here at Grapvyn, we took a look at the Fall Collection for Beyonce’s Dereon. Now let’s take a tour of her House; House of Dereon. The fall collection for her line Dereon, Fierceness, gave us the edgy, dark, punk rock, or Biker chic look and attitude that we often see come out of B when Sasha arrives. Looking at her fall collection for the House of Dereon Beyonce is clearly here and Sasha has gone home.

The House of Dereon was modeled after Beyonce’s grandmother Agnez Dereon (Soul), who was a true Southern bell from Louisiana. She was a skilled seamstress and dressmaker who made custom clothing for many clients through the south. She was a true Renaissance woman and poured her spirit into her pieces. Tina Knowles (Couture), Beyonce’s mother, also has inspired the collection giving it the trend breaking style infused with attitude she also incorporated her in depth knowledge of styling and design. Beyonce (Kick) serves as the “muse” and inspiration for the line inspiring with her sense of style and chameleon-like take on fashion; ever changing.

With the three generations infused as one, The house of Dereon has its own distinctive style consisting of “body couscous styles, and incorporates fabrics such as chiffon, silk charmuese, and satin crepe.” Quite the opposite of its counterpart Dereon, The House gives us a more classic and elegant look. Beyonce is shown wearing long gowns and short dresses each light and airy, flowing from the body; with a wild animal like print and bright gold’s, oranges, and brown. The House models itself after its creator(s) showing us grace and elegance. Even Beyonce’s hair shows the classy and elegant styles of the 20’s and 30’s. The collection is strong and precise, showing its timeless and classic features inspired by the Soul, Couture, and Kick of its heritage.

I hope you enjoyed your tour, come see us again!

Can't Get Enough of Micheal Kors?!

C.R. Wade

If you are into fashion, one name you’ve definitely heard of is Micheal Kors. This well known designer is a New York native, featured on the hit reality show Project Runway. BRAVO remained home for the show for five consecutive seasons but will air on LIFETIME for its sixth. Named the first ever read-to-wear women’s designer, Kors began designing at the age of 19. Buyers rave about his collections: MICHEAL KORS, KORS Micheal Kors, and MICHEAL Micheal Kors, and can’t seem to get enough. Even big named celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, and Catherine Zeta-Jones have been known to wear his designs.

Kors now calls New York’s West Village home, the reasons surpassing one. He plans to open up a new Lifestyle store in the village that is approximately 1500 sqft. The store will offer a mix of accessories and other products from his three collections. The in-house design team will work on the keeping the building’s original twenties features. “The rich cultural history of the village provides the perfect backdrop for a unique shopping experience in a quaint neighborhood setting” said Kors.

Review of the Chanel Line
By C.R.Wade

Karl Logerfeld, the mastermind behind the designs at Chanel, said his ideas for his pieces start with his dreams and claimed (jokingly) that this time it was a nightmare. In comparison to the shinning white in his spring couture collection, the fall collection just may have come from a nightmare (as one review put it), or is it that the collection is paying tribute to the season it is said to represent? The collection shows the darker side of Chanel in its threads using maroon, brown, camel, black, navy, and green. Watching the models walk the runway one might think of a mid-October walk as the sun is setting, sky darkening, and leaves changing colors . As singer Beyonce said in her song this must be “a sweet dream or a beautiful night mare.”

As the show continues and the models graced the runway, you saw velvet crystal and fur trims, on tweed, camel, and plaid. Other pieces on the runway showed detailed embroidery, beading, and imperial gold detailing. With each design there was different proportions and tiers. High wasted skirts with cropped jackets along with elbow or three quarter length sleeves, short and overly long pieces, as well as skirts to the knee. These combinations of proportion, color, and texture gave the look of elongation and weight to the garments. This collection was very precise, detailed, and focused in its design but could also cause an overload for the senses as more elaborate pieces were brought forth. The bold darkness of the collection was contrasted with the light feel of the barely brushed hair and fresh makeup worn by the models.

The set of the show was breathtaking. In honor of Chanel, who was a Leo, he filled the Grand Palais with a vast lion whose paw was resting on a large globe- referred to as a Chanel pearl from which the models would emerge. This would be the jungle in which a bold, courageous, and fierce collection would prowl the runway, a creature dominating its territory and showing why its king- in this case the queen. I wonder what Karl Lagerfeld ate the night before his beautiful nightmare.

Eco Chic (Sheek)
By C.R.Wade

Photo taken from the H&M website.

Over many years, decades even, mankind has come up with numerous new inventions. One might say that we have made great progress with making life easier, but on the other hand, environmental changes show proof that we have made it just a bit harder. Sound like a catch twenty two? In simplifying through inventions, we have polluted the air causing major problems. Aside from pollution, there are many other things that we have done to cause harm to mother earth. Having discovered our wrong doings, many have come up with solutions to the problem(s); including echo friendly cars and recycling. While man has invented all these things there s one thing that also stands true, we look good doing it. Now, you can save the environment and look good at the very same time. I bet none of us thought we would be Eco Chic.

In recent years many industries and the companies within them have made major strides toward becoming Eco friendly, and the fashion industry is no exception. Designers and clothing companies started to design lines and products that are not only made from natural materials, recycled plastic bottles, sustainable and textile waste but are also comfortable and stylish. Companies found ways to use organic cotton, recycled plastic, rubber, coconut fibers, and bamboo, just to name a few, to create items that are not only intriguing to buyers but Eco friendly as well. All of these things, believe it or not, can be broken down and processed to make some of the beautiful garments you see hanging in store windows, on the cover of magazines, or adorning Hollywood celebs. If you want to start doing your part but you are not sure how, you can start with your wardrobe.

Many names that you have heard of; Eddie Bauer, H&M, and GAP, among several others, have all come up with apparel and (clothing) lines that are Eco friendly. These stores that carry apparel, accessories, and shoes for men, women, and children can be found online for easy customer purchases. In 2010 and years to come look for more designers and companies to bring new lines catering, especially , to the environmentally conscious. Help save the planet and dress Eco Chic!
